“Gracious God,
we pray this day for your Holy Spirit to fall afresh.

You promise your people the spirit not of fear and timidity,
but of power, love and self-discipline (2 Tim 1:7).
May it be so for us
and among the commissioners, leadership,
guests and hosts of General Council 43.

Let us be your church,
responding to your love,
humble to your correction,
gentle with one another,
guided by your wisdom,
and faithful to your call.

We pray in the trustworthy name of
Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
May all glory be yours. Amen.”
